Well the people's votes have been tallied.
UpToDate is the most requested product to run on the iPhone without an internet connection.
ePocrates Essentials and Skyscape Titles are almost tied for second.
ePrescribing seems more desired than access to the office EHR.
Consumer based applications did not engender as much interest.
We'll pass the news along.
Please send us ideas for additional surveys.
Thank for participating. SV

iPhone Medical Survey # 2 results
Will the SDK release make an iPhone purchase more likely?
By a ratio of 4 to 2 to 1: our respondents said that they were waiting for ePocrates compared to Skyscape and Unbound Medicine. The addition of 3G speeds was as important as access to Skyscape to titles.
EHR compatibility and e-Prescribing were surprising not very important. SV

iPhone epocrates, iPhone skyscape survey results
Well avid readers here are the final results:
151 votes total
4 votes supporting browser based applications
63 votes supporting applications running on directly on the iPhone
36 votes for iPhone supporting epocrates
88 votes for iPhone supporting skyscape
As previously noted, Apple has been feeling the "pulse" of the consumers and will be releasing the SDK kit in 2008. This should permit epocrates, skyscape, unbound medicine and others to write applications to run directly on the phone, turning it into a traditional PDA. Even without 3G, it will become even more desirable for the medical and non-medical communittes.
